At the store this week I grabbed some Keebler Rainbow Chip cookies… we used to get them all the time when we lived in Nashua and mmm, they were SO good. The actual best ones were the mini ones that come in the little bags, but the big ones were still devoured mercilessly. I thought Bobo should finally experience the magical rainbow goodness for himself. I don’t know if I got a bad batch or if my tastes have changed, but I thought this pack of cookies tasted *nasty*. Just… plasticy and gross. I don’t know. But, of course, Bobo…

Turns out I *did* take pictures of Arin and his strawberry shortcake adventure. Gotta love that whipped cream beard! Om Nom Nummy! Arin is *super* serious when it comes to eating, he always puts on his battle face. Strawberry shortcake = conquered.

Summer time means lots of fresh strawberries! Bobo loves berries, and all winter long has been faithfully chomping on frozen raspberries. Now he is definitely enjoying these, as you can see. Also, I don’t have any pictures of it… but Arin is already a HUGE fan of strawberry shortcake… yum!

Sometimes when we’re having a lazy day Arin gets a cute breakfast like this. It usually involves hearts because that’s such a fun cookie cutter to use… and it makes everything from toast to sticky rice taste yummier, right?? I think so. This french toast was made using the thick Texas Toast for not-yet-posted Sugared Mexican French Toast (is that redundant? maybe I should be more logical with names)… and made *without* cinnamon. This is a big step for me… cinnamon ALWAYS goes into the french toast batter in my world… but I have to admit, I’m really digging the…

As I was taking the chicken out of the oven and resting it on the stove, I happened to glance over at my delicious buttery cream tea scones (which taste a thousand times better when using butter and milk instead of just cream, btw), and noticed an uncanny resemblance. It’s like my curried honey chicken was dressing up as scones for Halloween! 🙂 And yes, I DO have an unhealthy obsession with scones. 😉

When I first saw a PrincesstÃ¥rta I fell in love, they are so beautiful, so delicate, so Princess-like! They are a pale green, domed fondant (or marzipan) covered cake decorated with a rose on top. Inside they feature layers of sponge cake, vanilla custard, raspberry jam and artfully sculpted whipped cream. I mentioned my princess cake quest previously, and below are all the details. PrincesstÃ¥rtor are popular cakes in Sweden, and since I had never seen one before I figured the only way I would get to try one was to make it myself (apparently though they can be had…

To celebrate Julie’s delicious gift of fresh lemon curd from Merry Old England, I made another batch of scones this morning. Last time I posted about the King Arthur Blueberry Sour Cream scone mix, and mentioned I normally get the ‘plain’ kind. So here are the pictures of the King Arthur Cream Tea Scones. Yummy! There are two suggested ways to prepare these scones, for the cream method add 1 egg and 3/4 cup of heavy cream to the mix. The other is the traditional method, for which you cut in butter and add some milk. Today I went the…

I really need to find more creative lunches that are healthier than PB&J … maybe peanut butter and broccoli? Or spinach butter and mango jam? Well, maybe not, but I think next time I’m at the store I’m going to buy the Polaner All Fruit spread instead of the liquid purple goo they have turned grape jelly into.

YUM! I really like the King Arthur Cream Tea Scones mix they sell at the grocery store… it comes out really yummy. I asked my sister to pick up a box at the store, and unfortunately she came back with the Blueberry Sour Cream variety. Ick, I thought, I don’t like blueberries! Well, out of desperation for scones to compliment the rainy weather and my warm English Breakfast tea, I decided to try it. Here’s the before-baking shot: And guess what… King Arthur didn’t let me down, these are delicious! I still don’t like blueberries, but these scones are moist…
