Arin and the Fuzzy Buddies

Our cats have a pretty consistent schedule, they like to sleep in the same spots at certain times of the day. In the sunniest part of the day Hanzo is always on his window seat and Ahsoka is either sunning herself in front of a porch window or hiding in the highest hole she can find. Then, in the late afternoon they both disappear, because that’s the witching hour when the kids are at their craziest. Like clockwork, after dinner they come out looking for food and pets, though.

Usually they are underfoot when I’m trying to cook or do anything in the kitchen, they can sense there might be food or catnip for them then, but they balance that with not getting near any of the little kids who pose danger to their fur or tail. Then at night they like to hang out in the living room on the sofa, usually because someone is gaming or watching tv.

Everytime we watch a show or a movie they are there, sitting on the armrests, on the tops of the cushions, or in Hanzo’s spot closest to the tv. During the day they sometimes sleep under the sofa, because it’s relatively safe and cozy even if little feet are running around.

Tonight Arin was doing some homework and of course the cats had to be there to give him moral support. They love being around Arin at night, because not only does he clean their litter box and water bowl, he also is the wet-food dispenser, and the giver of many pets. They are his fuzzy buddies pretty much all night long.

Even at bedtime, they usually go sleep in his room once he heads to bed. Hanzo likes to sleep at the foot of his bed, and Ahsoka likes to sleep on clean clothes or folded towels, but sometimes she gets a spot on the bed too. Arin said that often right when he lies down, Hanzo will burrow his way under the covers next to Arin, snuggle up next to him with his head on the pillow and demand cozy pets. That’s the cutest thing I’ve ever heard, but I’ve still yet to see it! Hanzo certainly never wiggled under the covers for cuddles from me!
