Did you know, that when you rinse with Crest Whitening mouthwash and then eat a bagel it tastes like bubblegum? And the taste will stay in your mouth ALL MORNING? Well, now you do. Uck. Anyway… This is what I hope tomorrow looks like. Sunny, warm, and full of heavenly love. Spring COULD come early as a Valentine’s Day present, right??

Yesterday Arin turned 18 months! We didn’t really notice, except for the fact that he had an appointment with his new doctor today (and didn’t have to get his shots yet, lucky boy). He did have a fun day this week though, on Tuesday I took him to Fun World to play on the huge playground, and then Julie even came to join us. Afterwards, we went to McDonalds so he could have some sips of Coca-Cola (blame my dad for getting him into this), but he was falling asleep in line from all the fun and lack of a…

Tonight I saw an interview of Mary Eberstadt discussing her book Home-Alone America and I had to go and look it up. Basically, she has been researching the impact of parental absence in the home on kids, whether its through working moms, absent dads, uninvolved relatives, etc. Before I discuss why it resonated with me here’s a quote from the author. A summary question from the National Review Online: NRO: If a parent can take away only one message from Home-Alone America, what would you like it to be? Eberstadt: Any family already sacrificing to keep an adult at home…

This morning Arin got his first haircut. He is a few days short of 6 months old, but his hair was everywhere! In his eyes, over his ears, and forming little rats nests in the back… so it was time for a trim. He was born with dark hair like mommy, but it has since grown in blond… so now that its short you can really see a difference. I think he looks older (and definitely blond), aww! I am also not the best hairdresser, but hopefully in a few days it will grow in and look a little more…

Bobo looks so sweet with his kissable cheeks and ‘lover’s lips’ as Noni says. His eyes are still that dark blue color, turning slowly into dark brown. And of course, he’s sporting a nifty little mohawk with his super fine soft baby hair.

Announcing Our New Baby Arin Thomas McGilvray was born on August 5th at 9:12 am. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces (not the nine pounder they predicted!) and was 20.5 inches long. He took his time and gave us a few scares but now he’s ten days old and doing great. Not to mention he’s the cutest thing in the whole world. Here are some pictures from the hospital:

It’s not letting me post these with the previous post, so here they are, separately. We finally scanned in the pictures from Ultrasound #2. I sharpened them up and such in Photoshop, and once again presented them unmarked and then with little labels so you can tell what you’re looking at. Isn’t he cute?? 😉

My Second Ultrasound This week we went in for a second ultrasound. I was about 24 and a half weeks (reached the point of viability, yey!). Everything looked good, even though we had a grossly inept ultrasound tech. She wouldn’t record the pictures on the cd or dvd we were *told* to bring, took forever to get the measurements that the last tech did in a few minutes, and printed us a measly two pictures that are horribly out of focus. Oh well, at least we only have to wait 15 more weeks before we get to see him in…

Organizing Our Layette Today I went through our pile of baby things, and decided to catalog them to see what we have so far. I took pictures of everything, which are posted below. (Thanks to Mom, Melissa and Katie for their wonderful contributions to the ‘stash’!) I’m also going to post our two baby registries here. We mostly have larger items on there right now and will be adding more small essentials as we go. We aren’t really registering for any clothes or furniture. Clothes, because I think people would want to pick them out on their own if they…

So, without further ado, here are the pictures from the ultrasound! Our tech gave us four different ‘poses’ as printouts, even though she did take some other cute pictures of the feet and him sitting indian-style. Next time (if there is one) I’m going to bring a CD and hopefully get copies of all the bunch of shots. I’ve put up pictures plain so you can get the whole view, and then pictures with my little anatomy notes attached so you know what it is you’re looking at. Enjoy!
