I love a nice Nautical themed outfit, and sailor stripes are a super easy way to incorporate this style into your wardrobe. I’ve styled my navy blue and white sleeveless shirt with a pair of navy trousers, but it would look equally good with jeans or a pair of white capri pants. Here I am wearing a very simple sleeveless roll-neck that would look sharp both lounging at home or on the deck of a fabulous yacht. You could even elevate the look with pleated skirt for a classic dressy ensemble. I love the dark navy turtle-neck deck detail which…

For Christmas my sister got me these two little delights. The Sinful Colors is basic magenta-red creme/jelly almost, pretty thin. I did only use one coat, though. The sparkle is Orly ‘Too Fab’ and I still love the mix of big and small gold hex glitter. I think I do like it better over lighter colors and applied with a gentle hand, though. And yes, we still have one Christmas bear tenaciously hanging around! Or we did anyway, I believe it might have become a little kid’s dessert the one night last week he ate all of his vegetables quickly.

Sometimes during the spring and summer I get the urge to wear some less traditional polishes. It brightens up the dreary days, and reminds me of Easter Eggs too. I think I came across this color and just had to have it, and then realized it was a perfect duplicate of Tiffany blue. This was great, because at the time I also had a purse in almost the same shade too! The color is called ‘For Audrey’ – meaning Hepburn, referencing the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which is a classic she starred in. These were taken a while ago, and…

Here was what I decided to go with for New Year’s Eve. I have a nice pale shimmery nude, Orly ‘Pink Whisper’, with a thick topcoat of Orly ‘Too Fab’ which my lovely sister gave me for Christmas. She knew I’d want some bling for the Last Night! I love this ‘Too Fab’ though, it’s a hex glitter in two sizes, large and bold and small little sparkles. It goes on with a thick clear coat that leaves it smooth – no topcoat here. And the glitter doesn’t stick up at weird angles either, it’s perfect, I recommend.

With the holidays coming up, it’s a great time to start thinking about gifts. Looking back I remembered one of my favorite gifts ever, from a few years back. To show some solidarity for my emergency appendectomy, my sweet, sweet mother surprised me with the best present one day out of the blue while I was recovering! How gorgeous is this compact? I had had my eye on the Reds collection but was saving my gift certificate for some foundation and concealer. The gift certificate I’d had since the previous December, of course. My mom was like, I know you’ll…

This weekend my sweetie surprised me with a little bit of Christmas shopping, we headed out to the stores and got not very much – almost everything is online! But, I did manage to nab a little early present for myself, Orly ‘Decades of Dysfunction’. Its from the Dark Shadows line… which reminds me I still have yet to see this movie (or the old series). I finally have it, now it is just managing to win rights to the TV for a night… Here is Laquered with Love wearing this shade at 3 coats. Simple, and pretty. I am…

Let me share with you my little nail polish saga from Wednesday. It began with my trying out a ‘new’ shade. I bought China Glaze – For Audrey when I got everyone’s Christmas nail polishes, but I hadn’t tried it out. After seeing the Greenport nail polish that I wrote about before, I decided I really wanted to see if I liked blue/greens on, as I never used to. Well, yeah, I still don’t. It just looks too middle school for me, I don’t know? I saw the host on that makeup artist show wearing it last season, I didn’t…

I just came across the funnest thing… Essie is launching a trio of Long Island themed polishes… but not just Long Island, NORTH FORK! I was really lame and excited about this, because hey that’s where my grandparents live, I spent my summers there! I came across this epic discovery while reading Scrangie’s post which features pretty swatches (she is one of ‘the’ nail polish bloggers, in case you don’t follow such things). I’m not usually a fan of blue or green nail polish, but I really want Greenport! Just because of all the teenage summers strolling through the shops,…
