Tookie Biking at Sunset

Remembering Autumn Memories… it has warmed up for the past few days and it makes me think back to other years where it warmed before the cold. This photo set is from mid-September, just as we are getting used to living at Howell Home, amongst all the mess and relics.

The outside environs here were always spectacular, and even without a water view, the sunsets are amazing. What better view than ancient trees and far green fields could anyone ask for?

Biking on warm early autumn evenings means bare feet and pajama pants and Tookie cruising along on his old training bike. He’s moved up to a real pedal bike now, but these are perfect for toddlers and give them hours of fun with just their own two feet.

I’ve just gotten back into photo editing with Adobe – these images were all processed in Lightroom which I have never really used… but my mom’s laptop isn’t very happy about doing anything at all in Photoshop so I had to make due.

You can certainly get caught down rabbit holes just as easily in Lightroom. I hope as I process more images I get a feel for what kind of style I’d like to export. Right now these images are all over the place but they’re a bit experimental so I hope you enjoy them regardless.

For my first entry in quite a while I just wanted to try out different workflows and get the feel of Lightroom, and also blogging. I picked a set of images that was small but had a variety of compositions to practice with. Plus, I love remembering sweet days like this when the kids are having fun being outside.

I spent my summers down in this exact same yard playing and running around where my kids do now. It’s a circle that started 300 years ago when the house was built and ever since the home has been full of generations of children playing underneath the same black walnut trees. Granted, we did spend most of our younger years at Paradise Point across town right on the water, but even 100 years ago this was also basically waterfront before the forest (and McMansions) grew up in the way. In the winter you can still see the sparkling water from the porch.

And here is one final one, straight out of the camera, or phone as the case may be. It was a magnificent day, no filters needed. Okay, maybe just a little pop of pink in the sunset.

So concludes the memories of this early autumn evening, for now. I hope you enjoyed my first blog entry in quite some time, and I hope to have another post with more photos up soon.

  1. A little experimental but the images came out looking good and have a summery time feel to them
