How many months before we can enjoy balmy summer sunsets again? I’d settle for a few more days of 50 degree highs. :/

Did you know, that when you rinse with Crest Whitening mouthwash and then eat a bagel it tastes like bubblegum? And the taste will stay in your mouth ALL MORNING? Well, now you do. Uck. Anyway… This is what I hope tomorrow looks like. Sunny, warm, and full of heavenly love. Spring COULD come early as a Valentine’s Day present, right??

This year Arin will be big enough to appreciate Valentine’s Day for what it really means… chocolate. He’s obsessed already, I can already imagine what a great day he’ll have with a whole bunch of treats to sample. This is from my birthday breakfast that Julie and Lauren made… but it gets the idea across. Someone small and sweet stole my heart… and then ate it messily.

Here is the reason for the progression of my baby from slim little 90th percentile height, 25th percentile weight, to 90th percentile height, 75th percentile weight! Just kidding, he’s still a little beanpole! His little thighs are so skinny! Anyway, this is another example of how Grampy is leading him down the path of excess… always bringing over Dunkin’ Donuts! These donuts sadly were all stale and left over from Thanksgiving, but it didn’t stop Arin from trying to gnaw some deep-fried goodness between those sharp chompers of his. I’m sure Arin would eat Dunkin Donuts every day, and luckily…

Yesterday Arin turned 18 months! We didn’t really notice, except for the fact that he had an appointment with his new doctor today (and didn’t have to get his shots yet, lucky boy). He did have a fun day this week though, on Tuesday I took him to Fun World to play on the huge playground, and then Julie even came to join us. Afterwards, we went to McDonalds so he could have some sips of Coca-Cola (blame my dad for getting him into this), but he was falling asleep in line from all the fun and lack of a…

Reasons why I love Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman: She is a sweetheart. She keeps it real. ‘Black Heels to Tractor Wheels’ indulges my love of romantic stories and makes me warm and fuzzy. She gives the world lots of pictures of cowboys in tight jeans. She makes yummy recipes for us. Someday I’m going to win one of her million awesome contests. She feels me on SLR obsession. She lives in the country and takes pretty pictures. She’s funny. She makes me want to wake up at 5am in the bitter winter to drive cattle. Well, almost.

So far, the only Santa Arin has seen was last year and this year at the Lawrence Library. I try to go every year for the annual Tree Lighting, a tradition we’ve followed since I was a kid, as my mother was a library volunteer when I was growing up and always involved in town events. Last year even though Arin was only a few months old, I insisted on taking him… but it was insanely cold and parking is very sparse so we ended up missing the lighting and only staying to get a few pictures. This year, he…

Tonight I saw an interview of Mary Eberstadt discussing her book Home-Alone America and I had to go and look it up. Basically, she has been researching the impact of parental absence in the home on kids, whether its through working moms, absent dads, uninvolved relatives, etc. Before I discuss why it resonated with me here’s a quote from the author. A summary question from the National Review Online: NRO: If a parent can take away only one message from Home-Alone America, what would you like it to be? Eberstadt: Any family already sacrificing to keep an adult at home…

Yey, a new direction! So, originally this blog was just going to be all Arin all the time, every little smile and giggle and messy faced feeding picture. Obviously, that didn’t happen so I’m hijacking this blog (from myself) for myself. Actually, mostly it will probably still be about Arin. But! I get to throw in all the other junk I find myself wanting to publicly blog about. And, I also have a defunct old beauty blog thingie on this account which I will post on the right so you don’t have to click through my profile, just in case…

Right, so I haven’t updated this in about ten thousand years! I know, and I feel bad. First of all, I have been posting all of the pictures that do actually see the light of day on facebook. So, if you’re not already friends with me there, add me. If you’re not ON facebook, join! It’s super easy and a great stalking tool. I mean, social networking… or something. 🙂 I’m sort of addicted to ‘beauty blogs’ and ‘housewife blogs’ and since I’m such a prolific writer (right guys?) I should join in the fun. 🙂 More updates to come, promise!
