Rustic, old country barn, a little eerie, during an evening walk on a cool summer evening. What little kid could resist sneaking a peek into one of those dark windows, secretly hoping and fearing something ghoulish and exciting might be lurking inside… (He wasn’t snatched by ghosts, we had a leisurely walk back to his great-grandmother’s house)

I posted about the incredible amounts of fog and mist there have been with the odd weather changes, well here are some snaps from our morning drive. While it is frozen and barren half the year, we are lucky to live in a place with so much scenic beauty.

The National Trust in the UK is hosting an appeal to raise funds for its work, and also hosting a contest which will give the lucky winners a special access day trip to see some of their expert conservation methods at work. If you donate, you are automatically entered to win a trip for two to their studio to watch them repair some of these delicate and priceless artifacts. You can also check out the appeal for some highlights of what they are currently working on, and it’s a very interesting list. No gorgeous Elizabethan gowns at this time, but…

I’ve been looking for new desktop backgrounds to keep things interesting at work, and my dear sweetheart (who is unfortunately a giant Microsoft fan) immediately downloaded Bing Desktop for me. Don’t download this, it’s an extremely annoying little box that pops up and probably logs every keystroke you type – but, and this is how they reel people in – it automatically changes your desktop to a selected new photo everyday, and usually they are quite nice. Of course all the backgrounds have been uploaded around the internet so that you can browse through them, select your favorite, and set…

Today brought drizzle and fog and a much appreciated increase in the temperature after the ‘polar vortex’ we experienced following Hercules. It also made for some pretty phone snaps during this morning’s drive. More to come once I get Instagram working properly again…

One of my favorite treats of the season is to see the Nutcracker Ballet, it is so beautiful and reminds me of being a little girl. Of course, I have spoiled myself because I will not go and sit anywhere except the very front of the Orchestra now, after many years of trial and error this is simply the way to see the dancers, the costumes, and the magic in its best glory. Unfortunately, I am the only one I know who will happily pay for the best seats (it’s my birthday present to myself, usually!), or even has any…

When Christmas time comes around there is something so festive about snow scenes. One of my favorites is by K. Young Photography on Flickr. The snow bokeh is so beautiful, and the soft downy coat of the cardinal with those pops or red and orange somehow is a timeless reminder of Christmas for me.

I took this picture right after I got my new portrait lens, and I just love how amazing everything looks with it! We were at Momo’s house since it was a Saturday for Arin to take a bath, so here he is in the tub, bubbles and all, enjoying the end of a summer day while I snap away!

I had this idea to go back over time and do a BW every week for Bobo. I don’t know if its a project I’ll ever get around to… maybe when my classes finally end in May! But here is one for the last week in March! Matt, Arin and I were at Smokey Bones and he was such a good boy and ate his ENTIRE huge grilled cheese sandwich. He’s never hungry for dinner so we were super impressed. We go out to restaurants a lot though, and he’s usually very good, but just lacks an appetite like he…

My dad won the Keene Photoshop PhotoWalk contest this year! Congratulations, and everyone take a look at the winning photo. It turns out that the person who won the entire PhotoWalk contest (worldwide) also had a reflection/windows picture, pretty neat huh? Warp Drive
