The National Trust in the UK is hosting an appeal to raise funds for its work, and also hosting a contest which will give the lucky winners a special access day trip to see some of their expert conservation methods at work. If you donate, you are automatically entered to win a trip for two to their studio to watch them repair some of these delicate and priceless artifacts. You can also check out the appeal for some highlights of what they are currently working on, and it’s a very interesting list. No gorgeous Elizabethan gowns at this time, but…

I was reading through the Fotbalfrue’s recap of her year and this one picture just sent me off to dreamland. I am recreating this moment over the summer – delicious cold salads, fresh seafood, tapas, a glass of Moscato and a poolside looking out over the ocean. Followed of course by running around on the beach, going for a swim, sunbathing, and more delicious food and wine again later. Aside from the fact that I can’t indulge in any of that while I’m pregnant, I would love to just go now when it’s freezing here. So instead why not go…

Dear World, Today it is my birthday. So I have decided this is my annual Facebook birthday photo. I made it à la volée for the occasion one year specifically because a recent ex hated that I liked Grumpy Cat- as well as everything in the universe- and I just could not think of anything more awesome for him to stare at as he sat, miserable and frustrated at being now locked out of my profile like the unwashed masses, with only this sucker for him to remember me by as he drunk internet stalked me on my birthday. That’s…

When Christmas time comes around there is something so festive about snow scenes. One of my favorites is by K. Young Photography on Flickr. The snow bokeh is so beautiful, and the soft downy coat of the cardinal with those pops or red and orange somehow is a timeless reminder of Christmas for me.

Charleston sure is a beauty of a place, this would make a perfect journey’s start. I had saved this image under the tag of “Charleston”, but apparently I was wrong, its actually in Cumberland Island, Georgia, taken by JHamel. He has a few other really interesting shots of the area on his Flickr, describing it as more Jurassic Park than lazy southern path. I saved the image because I imagined it being the perfect place to start a journey, seems like those majestic trees are just lining the way, offering a silent ‘bon voyage’ as you pass underneath. Sometimes,…

A week or two ago I got the email announcement from Le Creuset announcing their newest color, and I adore it! Marseille Blue is vibrant and exciting and I think would look great in a classic or modern kitchen. Can you imagine how much tastier a hearty rustic soup would be presented in this? Definitely going on my wish list! Le Creuset does not disappoint in their marketing photographs either, and what a treat they all are. There seems to be the heavy suggestion for this set as summer time or beachy themed accessories, which wasn’t my initial thought but…

I don’t know if anyone noticed that I sort of disappeared during November, but the reason was that it was National Novel Writing Month (seems like it was just that time last year too…) so in addition to a thousand other things that have been going on, I took this challenge on as well. Glutton for punishment! However, the stress of an additional burden did pay off because… I WON! I finished my second fifty-thousand word novel in less than 30 days. While I would never even let anyone read this one and know the story isn’t really over, I…
