One of my favorite treats of the season is to see the Nutcracker Ballet, it is so beautiful and reminds me of being a little girl. Of course, I have spoiled myself because I will not go and sit anywhere except the very front of the Orchestra now, after many years of trial and error this is simply the way to see the dancers, the costumes, and the magic in its best glory. Unfortunately, I am the only one I know who will happily pay for the best seats (it’s my birthday present to myself, usually!), or even has any…

With the holidays coming up, it’s a great time to start thinking about gifts. Looking back I remembered one of my favorite gifts ever, from a few years back. To show some solidarity for my emergency appendectomy, my sweet, sweet mother surprised me with the best present one day out of the blue while I was recovering! How gorgeous is this compact? I had had my eye on the Reds collection but was saving my gift certificate for some foundation and concealer. The gift certificate I’d had since the previous December, of course. My mom was like, I know you’ll…

This weekend my sweetie surprised me with a little bit of Christmas shopping, we headed out to the stores and got not very much – almost everything is online! But, I did manage to nab a little early present for myself, Orly ‘Decades of Dysfunction’. Its from the Dark Shadows line… which reminds me I still have yet to see this movie (or the old series). I finally have it, now it is just managing to win rights to the TV for a night… Here is Laquered with Love wearing this shade at 3 coats. Simple, and pretty. I am…

Someone was nice and cozy beside the Christmas tree this evening!

My sister rifles through her pack while a wild cat waits hopefully for a snack, at the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. The Greek temple is now in ruins, but the views from the former mountain sanctuary of the Oracles are still breathtaking and inspiring.

When Christmas time comes around there is something so festive about snow scenes. One of my favorites is by K. Young Photography on Flickr. The snow bokeh is so beautiful, and the soft downy coat of the cardinal with those pops or red and orange somehow is a timeless reminder of Christmas for me.

We began our grande adventure to the Eastern Caribbean with a plane trip down to Florida and out of the cold, dreary New England weather. Alex, Arin and I enjoyed the short flight (what a breeze that is!) but my Mom and Carl enjoyed their first-class one a little more, maybe. Okay, we did enjoy it a lot, this was our first trip together so some silly snuggles were in order. Arin, of course, was an old pro at flights by now and just sat back and relaxed! After the long haul to London and back this little commute…

It seems in Phuket, Thailand every single afternoon was warm and sunny, perfect for dipping in the pool and then washing off in this outdoor garden shower after.

It was a nice, brisk morning when my sister brought her roommate on a visit to our hometown. We had some time to kill downtown, so we decided to take a walk and show off one of our few landmarks – the Old Covered Bridge. It is actually a new covered bridge – it was just completed a year or two ago. It’s unstained and unpainted and in my opinion is not nearly as nice looking or charming as the older one they replaced, but it certainly gets more publicity from the town now. Not to mention they had to…

Here’s wishing everyone a day filled with joy and the spirit of love and peace. Also, a visit from jolly old Santa Claus if you were good this year!
